My Life is Going Crazy.

Most of you follow me on twitter and already know this, but I will tell the story here, for my record and for your entertainment factor.  March 21st I was expecting a visit from Auntie Flow.  Well.  When she was a no-show, and she is NEVER a no-show, I decided it was time to consult the All Knowing, Ever Seeing, Magically Magic, Tell-you-your-future, Plastic Pee Stick.  This is what it said in two lines...
Well, isn't that a dandy.  Most of you know that Dave and I weren't planning on having anymore kids.  I never thought I would ever see a positive pregnancy test for the rest of my life.  Yet, here it sits.  On a counter top.  Telling me I'm pregnant.

I admitt.  My first reaction was less than glamorous.  I didn't cry.  I just pouted, and pouted, and pouted some more.  See.  I know that there are many women who struggle with fertility and more than likely despise people like me, who really could live happy without seeing a BIG FAT POSITIVE result on a fortune telling pee stick.  While I really wish I could give my fertility away, I can't.  Just like, I can't help but react the way I did upon seeing the results.

Now in denial, because you will agree, the line is very faint, right?  I mean.  HCG horomone is pretty exclusive to pregnancy, especially the amount that would cause a test to show even a faint line, but still.  I had to take one of those fancy digital ones.  I mean this is the year 2011.  Analog is the way of the dinosaurs.  Digital is where it's at, and it will tell me in a clear easy to read typed font.  Oh yes.  It will tell me clearly Pregnant or Not pregnant...
Meh.  Pregnant.  Yup.  BUUUUT!!! You will be pleased to know, that since taking this test I have actually grown a little bit of excitement, nay, I say even a little bit happy???  I mean.  It's early.  I am 4 weeks 5 days along.  EDD 11/29/2011 RIGHT AFTER MY MOST FAVORITE of holidays, Thanksgiving.  See?  There is reason to be joyous.  What a great time of year to have a baby? right?  Well.  Still.  I am only 4 weeks and 5 days.  Most people wait until their 14th week to tell a living soul that they are expecting because of the high possibility of miscarriage in the 1st Trimester.  I, however, have never waited to tell anyone.  I have always been the one to take the test and tell everyone.  No exception with this one OBVIOUSLY! ha.

So, now you all know.  It's the beginning of a new adventure on my blog.  God willing that I carry this baby full term to delivery and the baby is perfect and healthy, you will be getting "How fat is Amy getting?" updates... ok.  Not really.  I will probably be doing a weekly or monthly feature on it.  Fun stuff.

Well. That's that.

Have a HAPPY happy week.

Love.

  5. ACK I am so excited! Seriously I am flipping circles inside right now. I don't know why pregnancies excite me so much. Okay I do. I am a bit baby crazed right now. I have a question, I hope you don't mind me asking this. {if it is too personal please ignore} BUT were you on birth control of any kind? I just wonder because I am on bc and it even though I might be baby crazed in theory in reality having a baby scares the hell out of me. I am really excited to see your little bean sprout grow! So glad that the little thing is growing on you:)

  6. I'm really happy for you! It's a seriously hard thing to get adjusted too. With Aurora, my first, I took four pregnancy tests and then insisted on seeing a doctor just to be sure. This time around I took two tests and then cried my eyes out for about a week. As the little one grows, I grow more excited.

Enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can! I know that's easier said then done. I don't think a lot of people really get how hard it can be, you'll be great!

    Congrats again!!! <3

  8. Hey girlie congratulations :D That's awesome. I had a scare about 2 or 3 months after we got married - I cried and cried because it was so soon and because of how CJ reacted and then took the test and cried and cried because it was negative - I think we all react differently.

  20. Congrats Amy! :) Matt and I have been trying for about 3 years now but have had some complications... It's funny how different God's plan seems to always be from our own, huh?! But I know it'll happen when it's meant to.:) I'll be praying that everything goes smoothly for you and the baby!

Gwiddle - My cuz was on birth control (I think the pill...) and got pregnant while she was also on an antibiotic, so I would just be careful with that ;)

  24. Wow. I haven't commented on this yet. BADBAD friend.
    Well, AmySchmames, I love you.
And if I have to get preggers to prove it to you, I will. Actually, I really just want our kids to be friends. So.... GIT ON IT. (talking to myself)
I'm going to rub your belly all of the time. But only in public so people think that we're wesbian wovahs.
    Hahahaha
    Okay, just kidding.
I'M COMING OVER TONIGHTTTTTT. So excited.
Love you! Text me if you want me to bring something :) :)

PS- I think Aaron David is a great name. (isn't that what you said the other night?) But also, Leez is a perfect name, too. You can spell it Leeeeez, or Leez, or Leiz, or LeEeEeEz. I'm not picky.

    :D

this is the greatest comment I have ever left anyone.
    BE HONORED!

  25. I think I would probably have had the same first reaction, especially when you think you're done! It's big news but exciting news and I'm glad you are sharing it with all of us and letting us share in the joy and shock!! hahaha! Congrats mama Amy, now we get to guess if you're going to have a boy or a girl, watch you decorate a nursery, hear your moans and groans about not seeing your toes anymore, and then of course the adorable chubby cheek baby pictures! I'm excited for all of it! :) Congrats guys!!

  28. All that I will say in comment is this. When Amy woke me up at 1:30am to tell me that she was preggers. I was completely freaked out. All that ran through me was "holy crap! How can we pay for having another kid! Diapers, clothes and everything else that is included in having a new baby!" But now that it has sunk in I am really happy about having a new baby around. It is exciting to be able to watch the miracle of birth (which I always cry a little when I see the new baby. Done it twice and I am sure I will on the third time) excited to watch the baby grow and find it's fingers and toes. All the stuff which is awesome to experience with a new little one. I love you Amy, so glad I can have this new journey in our life. :-D

  31. I am so excited for you! I think I told you this but just in case I didn't, surprise babies are great!! I was a surprise baby and my mom told me that I always made her laugh no matter how bad her day was.

You're in my prayers Doll. If there is anything I can do for you let me know.

  32. Aw I'm so happy for you!! I completely understand what you mean about your feelings concerning an unexpected pregnancy. It's scary business no matter how old you are. Personally, I'm pretty much terrified of pregnancy, but that is just because I have never been pregnant. I'm so excited for you and your family! Can't wait to see how cute you are when you start showing a baby bump! Hope you have a happy happy day!! :)

Someday pretty soon you won't even be able to imagine your life before.

  36. This was so fun to read! You're hilarious! Oh, and I definitely need to say Congrats! I think unplanned events usually end up being exactly what we need and are unable to see ourselves.. especially when it's uncomfortable at first and only seems to get better... So, what I'm trying to say is YAY for you and your future little one! =)
